(((Spring)))

(((((Spring!))))
Yes, I just gave Spring a hug. I’m SO happy today. It’s a gorgeous day in the Boston area and it’s done wonders for my spirit. My happiness could also be partially brought on by girls night plans tonight too, but I digress. 😉

The only downside to today was this morning’s rather pitiful run. And I only have myself to blame. I totally did not listen to my body (she was screaming at me to rest, rest rest!) and struck out on a run with Scott before he left for work. The way I looked at it was – its an amazing, beautiful day today, it would be a sin not to at least do a short run. Well – the weather and scenery was gorgeous (and Scott’s company was awesome, as usual), yes, but my run, notsomuch. My body felt like lead today, every step was painful and we even took not one, but TWO, walking breaks. How is it possible to have my best long run ever last weekend and then this weekend, the exact opposite?

Well, I blame this “bad run” outing on not taking a rest day this week. Today should have been it but I just couldn’t resist given the sunshine and balmy breezes. I’ll chalk it up to a lesson learned – because I’m still feeling rather sluggish now, hours and hours after the run. I definitely worked it hard this week, including a TON of Kick, which I think has worn me out. On tonight’s agenda (after girl’s night, that is!) a nice, long, deep sleep, hopefully. Lately, I’ve been sleeping horribly – either I can’t fall asleep to save my life or I can’t stay asleep throughout the night. What gives?!

On another note, as I sit here blogging it up, I’m waiting for my first-ever attempt at salmon cakes to come out of the oven. I found the recipe online and thought I’d give it a whirl for girls night tonight (menu is sort of “springy” – shrimp spring rolls, caprese salad, cheese/crackers/olives, and salmon cakes – oh and homemade frozen yogurt, too). I’m a wee bit nervous since I’ve never made these before but I’m hoping they’ll taste as good as they smell. I chose to bake vs. fry them so that’s the other wild card here – will they still taste good that way?? Let’s hope!

Wish me luck on tonight’s salmon cakes experience and tomorrow’s (hopefully) long run before Easter brunch with the fam. Hopefully a good night’s sleep will do wonders for our planned 6.2 miler. Cheers!
