Thanks to the always-inspiring Tina for prompting this very post. Her “I will say it loud and proud” post totally stuck with me yesterday – the fact that we, as a culture of women are the first to admit to our flaws, but the last to admit to our strengths? It’s sad really. We should embrace who we are and own it. All of it.
So today, I urge you to celebrate: you.
I’ll start – and you can take it from there. 🙂
I am passionate. When I love something (or someone, hehe) you KNOW it. I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve. Whatever emotion I’m feeling, I show it. I’m a lover, not a fighter. 😉
I am loyal. To my sisters (to my niece!). To my husband. To my friends. I hold those that I care about very close to my heart and would walk across fire if it meant putting a smile on a loved ones face.
am obsessed with love challenges. A half marathon – sure, bring it on. Another one? Yup, I’m on it. Putting myself into uncomfortable situations (new job, new approach to working out, food logs, etc.) has taught me so much about myself. And I’m thankful for every single challenge presented to me – even the ones that stress me out now and then.
I’m a gigantic dork. Giggle fits halfway through Barre N9ne. Who, me? Rummy wars with the hubs? Playing “wanna know how I got there?” with whomever will listen to my ridiculous rambles (usually Scott gets stuck holding that bag)? Giant dork. Always have been and that is a-ok with me!
I am me. A “me” I’ve grown to love more and more in the past year or so. I’m settling into my 30s (eek, 30s, as in plural??) and it feels good to be getting more comfortable in my own skin. It’s about time.
So, I started us off nicely, I’d say. Now it’s your turn. Let’s call today, June 2: Celebrate: You day. Are you in?
I love this sis. And all those things about you, so true. I love that we (you, me, Jen) have the best relationship we’ve ever had. I love that we confide in each other just as much as we have giggle fits. I also love that I am just as determined at facing challenges, more now than ever.
How’s that? 😉
I love that too. I don’t know what I’d do without you two. Seriously.
And yes, you are ridiculously determined – something I was so proud to see this morning on our run. You worked so hard to get through it and I loved sharing that with you!
I love this! And I’ll celebrate you any day 😉
And in the spirit of this post, I’ll contribute: I am driven. This is probably as much of a flaw as it is an asset, but when I have a goal, I achieve it, whatever it takes. I am motivated and I love seeing results. I have a lot of friends who dream big, which is great, but they fizzle quickly. I stick by my passions.
I don’t know why, but now I have the Flashdance song in my head. “Take your passion! And make it happen!” No? Just me. OK.
LOL Ali, you crack me up – now that song will be stuck in my head forever today. Oh well, it made me giggle. Yet another thing to be thankful about today (yes, I just read and commented on your post as you read and commented on mine, weird!).
I love that you are so driven – it is a HUGE part of who you are, that much I can tell. And it’s awesome and VERY contagious – which I dig. 🙂
This is awesome! I’ll totally celebrate me today! : ) I’m in!
Yes, you are all of those things and also a wonderful, supportive friend! I can always count on coming here to be inspired!

i saw that post and ooooozed with joy. I loved it too. Amazing! and you are all these things. I am a dork right there with you.
woohoo!! gigantic dorks, unite! 🙂
I am a gigantic dork too, so I love it!
Also, this morning I was walking to work and I saw my reflection in a window and you know what? My legs look really good. So I am going to celebrate that today.
NICE LEGS girl!! Must be all that core fusion doing it’s thang!
I’m really starting to think I’m the long lost sister…and you are really part of a quadruplet (?!). I echo your obsession (because let’s call it what it is) and I’ll definitely celebrate me today!
PS: Tim’s favorite phrase to say to me whenever I say something out of the clear blue sky is, “I like peanut butter…can you swim?”
Um, you *totally* are. What a riot.
Tim is so funny – what the heck does that even mean?? I guess that’s his point though, huh – since he only says it after you say something entirely random? Doi. I get it now. 😉
I LOVE this idea! It might take me a while to do this! So many things to think about 🙂 You are amazing, my girl!
I think you should do a whole post celebrating YOU. Just sayin 😉
I love those qualities about you. I’m definitely a very loyal (almost to a fault) person as well.
You are incredibly loyal – an amazing friend, through and through. xo!
This is so true of women. I find it really hard myself, and yet I love reading and hearing about it when other women celebrate themselves. So I’ll try here.
I am committed. No matter what I do, I see it through with determination.
I am good humoured (most of the time!). I like to go through life laughing as much as I can at stuff.
I am thoughtful. I try my hardest to connect with and understand others. I think that’s really what makes us, to be honest. How we relate…
Oh right, and I’ve got a great butt. But that doesn’t really seem in the spirit of things 😉
LOLOL I LOVE the butt comment, you crack me up!! Well fine – I think I have a pretty nice ass too. Feel better now?? hehe 😉
I haven’t celebrated myself much lately. Things have been tough (bad breakup, not on the blog) and I get hard on myself…so here goes:
I am open-minded and friendly. I love people. I make friends easily and have really good friends because of it. On bad days, I know that I have people behind me. And I stand behind them.
Thanks for giving me this post today!
Hugs!!! I’m so glad I could help just a wee bit.
PS. Sent you an email…
Celebrate You Day sound good to me!
I love this! What a great reminder to take a closer look at the things we love about ourselves. It’s so important to be our own #1 fan and focus on the positives. xoxo
I loved Tina’s post and I love yours too – I got a zap of energy just reading this! I loved reading your list – and I love the dork in me too 😉
Before I read either of these, I had posted a photo (on facebook, not many photos on the blog) after a run – I was smiling big and feeling great! It was an odd thing for me to do, but now I realize I was celebrating too! 😀 Celebrating a good run I was able to have, appreciating my body even if I can’t always have a run that good, loving the feeling I was having just then.
Thank you for bringing it all back again this morning – I can have that smile all day!

I love this post….just got the chance to read it. There’s such a great idea behind it, and I will totally contribute.
I am kind, and I work well with children. I’d like to think I have a big heart, and I can’t wait to someday (way in the future) have a family of my own. I am also hard-working and try to stay positive when all else fails…
