Six

Sixeggs in a half dozen.

Sixsides on a dice.

Sixstrings on a guitar.

Or.

Sixinches lost. 30 days into the barre n9ne 60-day transformation.

SIX.

Nevermind my sister who lost over EIGHT inches, overall.

In 30 days.

I am floored. I honestly went into this challenge with no expectations other than to see *some* change. To learn a lot. And to have some fun along the way.

30 days in and I’ve gained (or lost!) so much more:

a real friendship in Tanya, the owner and lead instructor at Barre N9ne (and awesome blogger, check her out!). She truly cares about us and has been an amazing source of inspiration and encouragement. I feel lucky to have met her through this challenge. And I sense great things to come between the three of us, 60 days in and beyond.

more confidence in my abilities. And a willingness to trust my body to do what my mind doesn’t always think is possible. And watching change happen almost before my eyes.

an even stronger bond with my sister, my sister who has struggled recently with body image issues. To see her eyes sparkle again with pride, to see it in her text message to me right after we got off of our skype chat with Tanya last night (where she revealed our inches lost) that said: “wow :)” And I knew, just by that short text, that she was REALLY damn proud of herself (and me). It made my heart swell with joy.

losing inches. Like legit inches lost. Six to be exact. I am still in total awe.

I’m in total awe yet now I am that much more motivated to keep my game face on (within reason, don’t worry!) for the last 30 days of this challenge. And — I’m incredibly thankful. Thankful to Tanya for giving us this amazing opportunity. Thankful that my body has not let me down. Thankful that this challenge isn’t over yet! 😉

So, like I said when we kicked off this challenge in May, I’ll say it again…Bring. It. On.

  1. High 5’s my friend!!! So happy for you (and proud actually)! And I seriously know what you mean about feeling that sense of pride for your sister in seeing her “sparkle” again. That almost made me tear up b/c I feel so strongly about my sis too.

    • Aww thank you my friend, for being so proud and supportive as you always are. I honestly and MORE happy for my sis than I am for myself, she is knocking those negative self-image thoughts to the curb through this challenge and it makes me SO SO SO happy to see.

  2. I LOVE how similar our posts are without even reading each other’s posts 🙂 I am SO impressed with our focus and ability to do this. I am amazed at the results and I am thrilled we are doing this together. And thank you for putting up with my self image issues and helping me through it, it’s made a huge difference 🙂

    • I know, why am I NOT surprised how alike they turned out to be. hehe 😉

I am equally impressed and proud of our focus throughout – who knew we had it in us, huh?? SO SO SO SO proud of you in particular, sis – I love to see that sparkle returning. Makes my heart smile 🙂

  3. YES!!!!!!! I am not surprised, but I am THRILLED for both of you! I told you barre classes work so well and you will absolutely see results! How could you not?! Can’t wait for you to continue with this! Helped my own self esteem infinitely.

    • Seriously Dori – I never thought I’d see the day. I remember reading your Core Fusion challenge results and thinking how GREAT would that be if I could achieve something like that. I honestly never thought it would happen – so the fact that it is? A TRUE testament to the power of these workouts. Incredible. Cannot wait for the next 30 days 🙂

  4. I’m so proud of both of you!!! I knew you would see huge results. The combination between your barre work, running, healthy eating, no squats or lunges 🙂 the 1lb silver demon balls (as we like to call them!) & all your effort in our long and lean mat class has truly paid off! Here’s to the next 30 days and more inches lost!!!!! I think it’s important for your readers to know that it isn’t just barre work that helped you lose inches. It is a combination of all of the classes you are taking are barre n9ne™, barre and non barre are equally important….as well as sticking to your “Number” the ultimate secret behind all of this!

    • I give you HUGE credit for these numbers, truly. The “number” is truly a major factor in all of this – as is the types of workouts we’re doing in these classes, both barre and non-barre. Hmm this could be a series of posts from me next week, thanks for the idea! 😉

Because you’re right, it’s so much more than the barre work, it’s a combination of everything that we’re doing that’s working here. Ultimately though, it’s this style of working out that I credit with the way the shape of my body is changing – all those reps/light weights (with those evil EVIL balls) are ridiculously effective.

  5. this is giving me chills all over again!! 🙂 I saw both your and your sister’s tweets last night after you found out, I could feel the excitement!! such a nice surprise along with all of the other benefits and growth you are getting from this experience!

    • Aww thank you my dear!! I feel so loved and supported by all of you during this challenge, I really appreciate all the tweets and comments, you have no idea!! I feel like I’m doing ya’ll proud 🙂

  6. Congratulations! That is awesome, but totally not surprising. You’ve been working SO hard. Way to go – and wow – you’re going to do this for another month! I can’t wait to hear the end results.

  7. Wow! Congrats to both you and sis on getting such hard-earned results. I must admit that feel especially pleased for your sister in overcoming some of her body image issues though. They are so difficult to shake, and it seems like this has put both of you on the way to a more confident outlook in both your abilities and your appearance. Go Tanya, and go you two 🙂

  8. I am so, so happy, inspired, thrilled, impressed, etc, etc, etc. This is amazing and I am so happy for you AND excited for the next 30 days!! I must get into these virtual classes!
