The dreadmill

Yes, these are all interval-style workouts. I realized this past winter that the ONLY way I’ll ever co-exist with my dreadmill is by running intervals on it. Steady-state running on the dreadmill just doesn’t work for me. Luckily, intervals and I have a great love/hate/love relationship.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Intervals – love to hate ’em (a basic one, but a goodie)

Speed Wednesday (or any day ‘o the week, really!)

Interval 3s and 5s (this is by far my favorite interval workout, it was in heavy rotation last winter)

Building intervals

Mile repeats (latest obsession!)

Badass-style intervals (or: building one-mile repeat-style intervals)

  7. I absolutely hate running on the ‘dreadmill’. I don’t know why, but maybe I should try the intervals thing. I much prefer running outside, but you can’t do that in the winter. Do you have any suggestions for transferring from outside to a treadmill?

    • Intervals are the only thing that got me to learn to love the dreadmill in the winter when running outside is less of an easy option to take. Give them a try and let me know how they work for you! I just love them! (I much prefer outside too, and will take it ANY day over the dreadmill!)
